Wow... talk about embarassing...

A Japanese high school pleaded for a regional game to be abandoned after surrendering 66 runs in less than two innings, local media reported on Thursday.

The coach of Kawamoto technical high school threw in the towel to spare his pitcher's arm with his team losing 66-0 with just one batter out in the bottom of the second.

The hapless hurler had already sent down over 250 pitches, allowing 26 runs in the first inning and 40 in the second before Kawamoto asked for mercy.

"At that pace the pitcher would have thrown around 500 pitches in four innings," Kawamoto's coach was quoted as saying. "There was a danger he could get injured."

Yea it isn't like 250 is ridiculous or anything

.....Hopefully this guy took his starters out after their 8th AB of the inning and the reserves just hit well.

If not then this coach needs karate chopped in the throat!

thats what i thought when i read it... i was thinking... okay, so 500 is bad? but 250 is ok?? MLB managers/pitchers are worried about throwing 100 in a game!

Didn't Daisuke Matsuzaka throw 150+ in Japan every game?

I should find this funny, but I dont. As a pitcher who had his arm ragged in little league and subsequently had serious shoulder/elbow problems in college, this is borderline child abuse.

Its appaling to let a kid of any age throw 250 pitches. That coach should be fired and never allowed to coach baseball at ANY level. The damn Japanese have a 'Hitler Youth' approach to the game and it makes me sick.

I usually dont get this fired up on this board but that really pisses me off.

I like how the coach threw the towel in after the team scored 66 runs. I mean if it was me there's no way I let the game continue after run #60.

In all seriousiness I would have had the game called after 20 runs. Enough is enough and that's when kids get hurt on either team.

:sidelol: The original post had me laughing, but this one had me ROLLING! :sidelol:

Sweet, Jesus, I remember catching during 10 run innings. Can you imagine being in a squat for a 26 run inning then a 40 run inning? My goodness.

And yeah, 250 pitches, no big deal.
