Well its gonna be tough to beat the last Batman and the second X-men movie... I sincerely doubt Iron Man will do that. Though I am sure it will be a fine lesser superhero movie (he is a lesser super hero...)

WT???? Freaking Leader of the Avengers is a lesser hero? I think you need to read Civil War, and fast. :) And while you do that, go back and get some older books and see how IronMan is not a lesser hero.

I hated the cinematography for the action sequences in "Batman Begins" as they were way too dark and too much shaky cam. The did a good job with the story and the acting was excellent, but the cinematography choices left me wanting more. And don't get me started on that horrible monstrosity that is the bat-mobile, YUCK!

Is Jackson's Fury In Iron Man?
Iron Man director Jon Favreau would neither confirm nor deny the persistent rumors that the upcoming superhero film will include a cameo appearance by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, agent of the top-secret S.H.I.E.L.D., a wink at a possible Avengers movie to come.
Recent critics' screenings of Iron Man did not include a Nick Fury sequence, though other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents do appear in the movie. But there's a growing buzz that the scene will appear after the end credits of the prints that will screen in movie theaters once the film opens.
Favreau won't say. "It's hard to keep secrets on these movies," Favreau said in an interview in New York last week. "People are trying to put together the pieces, if Sam is in there, if Hilary Swank is in there. ... I don't want to say anything. I'll leave it at that."
Jackson supposedly shot scenes as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent for both Iron Man and for The Incredible Hulk, another Marvel Comics-based feature, with the idea being to set the stage for a crossover Avengers movie. (Oscar winner Swank is rumored to play another S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.) And it's been confirmed that Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. filmed a cameo as Tony Stark that may--or may not--turn up in Hulk. (Attendees at the recent New York Comic Con previewed the footage.)

Entertainment Tonight attended the Iron Man premiere and got a chance to speak to Viacom and CBS Executive Chairman Sumner Redstone and Paramount Pictures CEO Brad Grey who said that if the movie does as well as expected, the studio will be looking to release the sequel in 2010.
What's interesting is that The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has already "claimed" the first weekend of the summer that year (May 7, 2010), but if you look at the calendar, Iron Man 2 could easily open on April 30, which is a Friday, essentially giving it almost a similar release date as the first film.
Oh! And while press screenings did not have a certain scene after the credits, when Iron Man is released in theaters tonight, it IS expected to have it... so, be sure to stay after the credits!

Yeah, when we were kids this stuff was but a dream... Now a reality we can share with our kids!

Iron Man was truly superb. When I first heard that RDJ was being cast as Stark, I was skeptical - much like TM as PP in Spider-Man. But man, Robert nailed the role just like Tobey did.
I did have an "Oh No!" moment as a dad, though. I took my sons, who are 9 and 7. If this is a minor spoiler, I apogize and just ignore the rest of this post and move on down *** but early in the film when Stark propositions the gorgeous news lady and then next thing you know she's straddling him in the sack, my youngest son busted out, "Dad, what are they doing???" real loud. Everybody around us burst out laughing. Embarrassed, I just mumbled, "They're kissing. Shut your eyes!"
Er, yeah, great, great movie. And excellent cast and story.

"Iron Man" was pure gold at the box office.
The Marvel Comics adaptation, starring Robert Downey Jr. as the guy in the metal suit, hauled in $100.7 million during its opening weekend and $104.2 million since debuting Thursday night, the second-best premiere ever for a nonsequel, according to studio estimates Sunday.
The film also scored overseas with $96.7 million in 57 countries where it began opening Wednesday, putting its worldwide total at $201 million.

Got back from the movie theater a few hours ago after taking in a Sunday Matinee ... Great, great film. Easily the best of the recent Marvel films, this one is a homerun. There was enough of the comic-book geek stuff to keep me happy, but it also wasn't like you had to read every one of the Iron Man comics, either. Good stuff, Favreau really did wonders with this one.

#1 the movie is freaking awesome. I read comic books and honestly Ironman is one of my least favorite. I just never liked the character. Still, the movie is awesome.
#2 about 3 minutes ago I went on youtube and saw the scene after the credits. I still have chills running up and down my spine. That is too awesome.
I am actually proud of Marvel right now. I know it is silly. It is just the company has taken it on their own to make movies that actually represent their vision for the characters instead of some other guys like Elektra.

It is going to sort of pick up where the first one left off in that Banner is already the Hulk and is on the run in South America (this is what I read, forgive me if the details have changed since then) but the actors are different as is the director, and it's going to be a new direction in the sense that the focus will be on action rather than introspection.

Saw this Saturday with my brother and nephew. Saw it again Tuesday with the fiancee, knew she'd love it too. Easily the best cast to ever be in a comic book movie. Robert Downey Junior, Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, and Jeff Bridges, all give great performances, elevating every scene that didn't include CGI to be just as thrilling.
I'm a weird comic book fan, I own like 20 scattered Batman's from the 70's and 80's and a Year One. So I don't really follow them, and never really did. But I still love comic books, love the iconic images of all the heroes that I never read a page of. And I hate when they screw them up in translating them to the screen. When they kill the Arch Nemesis in the first movie, it just ruins it for me. See Batman (1989)
It is really such a relief to finally see Hollywood figure out how to make comic book movies feel like comic book movies. And with the way this movie was setting things up that hint at a larger universe. SHIELD, Fury, etc.. With Marvel producing this themselves they are investing in a story that they hope will become a series, rather than a Hollywood studio caring just about one blockbuster at a time.

Oh yeah. He's that superhero that isn't as badass as Batman.
Usually I don't care for Paltrow but she looked pretty good in the movie.

I finally saw the movie! I thought it was well done.
And Paltrow was hot, but I think I liked the reporter better.
I just saw it last night.
I thought it was great... almost as great as the reporter

We can't blame Batman for Tom Cruise screwing with Katie Holmes' head. Did you see her awesome nipplage in Batman Begins? You can't blame a guy for loving those puppies.
